Love Coffee But Not All That Caffeine? Maybe Try Mushroom Coffee?

After turning 40 I started noticing some changes in my body—and sadly one of them was my tolerance for caffeine (ugh!). I mean seriously, I was a 2-3 cups of coffee every morning kinda gal, and now I can’t handle even one cup without my heart turning into a speed racer?! Sometimes it wouldn’t start racing until I got stressed (which is countless times a day) or worse—I’d wake up in the middle of the night with the damn thing nearly beating out of my chest!

So I started researching and first learned about Mushroom Coffee over on Gabby Bernstein’s Blog and learned it had half the caffeine as regular coffee PLUS extra health benefits from the mushrooms. Later on, I stumbled on Jenny’s article over on HealthyCrush about all the benefits of medicinal mushrooms. I’m not going to share all of that research here. Check out her article—it’s super informative—and then do more of your own research when you’re ready to experiment with it.

Let me start by sharing my “old system” of making my coffee. Meet my Mixpresso after going through 3—I kid you not!—Keurigs in a year. Maybe they just couldn’t handle my 2-3 cups a day. LOL Anyway, I’d have to fill this thing with water, wait for it to warm up, and then wait a little longer for it to brew that tasty first cup.

Now that I’ve shifted to mushroom coffee, my mornings are much easier and faster. No coffee maker needed. Just hot water—I have a water machine where I simply press the “hot” button and it pours instantly into my awaiting mug. Then a tsp (or packet) of mushroom coffee, stir, add topping of choice…and voila. 🙂

And what’s the best part of this new morning habit? NO MORE RACING HEART!

A while back I’d shared my favorite Almond Milk Cappuccino recipe and to this day, that’s still how I drink my coffee. Only now, it’s Mushroom Coffee with HALF the caffeine! My hubby, Baron, thought this mug would be a perfect reminder of him thinking about me while I drink my morning goodness. LOL

I’ve experimented with several brands, at various prices, and I have a couple faves. Some of the mushroom coffees out there are pricey! But then again, so was going through 3 Keurig machines and then getting that Mixpresso!

I love this Organic Mushroom Coffee by Body & Fit that I get on Amazon. It has a great flavor, several types of healthy mushrooms, and is easy to use at home. I like to store it in a glass jar for extra convenience, and of course I always have a teaspoon nearby.

This one by Ganoderma I love because it not only tastes good but it comes in these packets that are perfect for when i travel! Mushroom coffee on the go-go! You can get hot water just about anywhere to mix it with. It’s also the best value I’ve found so far. It only has Reishi mushroom versus the other brand that has various shrooms tho.

I still foam my almond or cashew milk in my handy aeroccino and I’ve been loving Flavor God’s seasonings for my topper. Since it’s Fall, Pumpkin Pie has been in the win.

So how are you doing with your coffee intake? If you’ve been feeling like regular coffee is too much, but aren’t quite ready to give caffeine up completely, then Mushroom Coffee could be a fun experiment for you to try out.

To revving down your coffee and feeling more healthy and awake,
